What is a digital glasses prescription card?

Your prescription card contains all the values from your current eyewear prescription – sphere, cylinder, axis, prism, pupillary distance and more – prepared digitally as a wallet card. Instead of searching for the slip of paper in a drawer, you always have your prescription data at hand on your smartphone, for example when buying glasses on holiday or at your next appointment with your optician.

Does the prescription card work with Google Wallet and Apple Wallet?

Accepted Answer

Yes, both work directly through our generator, with no account needed: just choose Google Wallet or Apple Wallet before creating your card, and you immediately get a link to add it. You only need a free account once your prescription data changes later and you want the wallet card to update automatically – without an account, the card you created simply stays as is. To generate the respective wallet card, we pass your prescription data on to Google or Apple with your consent. Prefer not to? Choose the PDF option instead: your card is generated as a file, with no data sent to Google or Apple. Alternatively, you can share the link at any time as a QR code, and retrieve and forward it again from your dashboard.

Do I need an extra app for this?

Accepted Answer

No. The digital glasses prescription card is not an app to download – it lands as a wallet card directly in the wallet app already pre-installed on your smartphone: Google Wallet on Android, and Apple Wallet on iPhone. A regular web browser is all you need to create, update and share it.

Is my prescription data safe?

Accepted Answer

Your data is transmitted encrypted and stored on our own servers in the EU. To create the wallet card, we pass your prescription data on to Google or Apple, only with your explicit consent – beyond that, it is not shared with any third parties. You always decide for yourself who gets access to your prescription card, for example by selectively sharing the link or QR code.

Can my optician update my prescription card?

Accepted Answer

Yes, if you want them to. Opticians who offer the prescription card through our interface can transfer new values to your existing prescription card after an adjustment – the wallet pass then updates automatically on your smartphone, including a "verified by your optician" seal.

What's the difference to the digital prescription card from Fielmann, Apollo or Mister Spex?

The digital glasses prescription card is completely vendor-independent – unlike the closed systems of individual optician chains such as Fielmann, Apollo or Mister Spex, it can belong entirely to you rather than to a specific store: create your prescription card yourself through our generator, and you own it, can update it yourself at any time, and simply take it with you if you switch opticians. If your optician creates the card for you instead, they – as with the chains – remain the owner of the card. Your own card also lands directly in Google Wallet or Apple Wallet instead of in an extra branded app, or as a PDF if you prefer, and creating it as an individual remains free forever.

What does it really cost for personal use?

Accepted Answer

Creating your own prescription card is and remains free for individuals – as is updating it, simply by creating it again with new prescription data. Only additional features in the family subscription are paid: automatic push updates directly in your wallet without having to recreate the card, and sharing the card with other people, such as family members. If you get your prescription card through your optician instead (also via link), they cover the cost – it stays free for you as a customer.

How do I integrate the prescription card into my software via the API?

Our REST API lets you create and update prescription cards directly from your own point-of-sale, practice or store software – with your own branding per optician (white-label). Documentation and a test access are set up together with you as part of the optician or API plan.
